WWE Stars Who Belong to the LGBTQ Community
The WWE is becoming a more diverse place every year as they recruit people from different backgrounds. Lately, quite a few of the stars have come out as members of the LGBTQ community. Take a look at the familiar faces in the WWE that are populating the modern ranks of wrestling and changing the game for the better.
Tegan Nox
Tegan Nox, who made her debut back in 2013, is a wrestler with the NXT UK Brand. People know her for having a nerdy name that is related to the Harry Potter series and for her Shining Wizard finishing move. Although many people thought she was straight at her debut, she revealed she was bisexual in 2020 during an interview. Many wrestling fans who identify themselves as bisexual would be happy to hook up with her. While the chances to date Tegan are quite moderate, bisexual hook ups can get more real if going online, as modern dating platforms cater to all types of needs.
Sonya Deville
Daria Berenato is Sonya Deville in the ring, and she is a familiar name in both the Smackdown and Raw formats, so she is commonly seen on the WWE shows. She is a young wrestler, only 28 (her debut took place in 2015), and she is known for being the first openly gay female wrestler in the WWE. According to the available information, Sonya is currently dating a model and fitness enthusiast Toni Cassano.
Viper AKA Piper Niven
Another NXT wrestler is Viper, or Doudrop, also known as Piper Niven under the WWE brands. She first came out as bisexual on a social media post in 2019, and later she got married. In March 2021, she has been sidelined with an injury even though she did not elaborate on the injury that she has or what impact it will have on her returning to the ring. She continues to be a popular wrestler no matter which brand she wrestles under.
Mercedes Martinez
Jazmín Benítez is Mercedes Martinez in the ring, and she is known for her long tenure as a wrestler and her incredible physical strength. She returned to the WWE in 2020 and is currently in the NXT brand, and she is operating with the villainous group Retribution with a new name, Retaliation. She has an interesting storyline that is ongoing.
Charlie Morgan
Yasmin Josephine Lander is better known as Charlie Morgan, and she came out as lesbian in 2017. In fact, she is currently engaged to Jetta (in December 2020) but she has not been as involved in wrestling as of late. A lot of fans hope that she gets the rest she clearly wanted and returns to the WWE brand. Morgan is still young enough to mount a comeback and certainly has the fan support.
The LGBTQ community is seeing increased support around the world, and that is being seen in areas such as entertainment. More wrestlers are seeing fit to come out and be honest with themselves about their romantic lifestyle. Some companies have handled these situations better than others, but the hope is that more representation will lead to more talent finding its way to the pros no matter their sexual orientation.
