This is a devastating loss for New Orleans, who basically no chance in post-season without Williamson, and that’s really worrying for the future of the team.
Williamson’s game is predicted to be based on his athletic ability, but the leg injury and extra weight the star has put on has certainly raised a red flag for his future. This is not to say Williamson won’t return to his All-Star form, but the fact that his leg injury lasts for a long time has implications for the future of his career.
The Pelicans may be wise to sideline Williamson for the entire 2021-22 season as they are only 8-20th and last in the Western Conference.
It will be interesting to see how Williamson enters rehab and when to return to court with his feet still troubling him. WynnBET currently have the Pelicans at +20000 to win the NBA championship this season.
