To be Daemon X Machina a “good” video game? Yes no). Good. Daemon X Machina recently described by a friend of mine as 7/10 Armored Core spiritual successor, with the important note that every Armored Core The game is a 7/10. This means that it is a good game according to Renata Price’s “B-Games Are The Best Of Video Game” index, which I will wait until the day I die. It’s also free on the Epic Games Store starting Thursday, the 27th, so you have no excuse not to give it a try.
Like Armored Core the series that clearly inspired it, Daemon X Machina Is one focus on custom Mech game about auto-targeting weapons and motion-controlled combat — originally released on Nintendo Switch in 2019. You test drive an Arsenal, a modifiable mech platformer that can carry just about anything. from swords to iron guns and double bazookas. You then maneuver this mech around relatively simple maps, killing enemies and picking up their parts as you go. You then combine these parts into your own cyborg death machine.
This feedback loop is relatively simple, and the game’s auto-targeting can make weapons uniform over time — but there’s enough Daemon X Machina to sink your teeth before things get too rosy. It’s also important to note that the game has co-op multiplayer, allowing players to tackle massive enemy units with their friends. Like any game, co-op will greatly expand what you can get out of the experience — as your friends will help soften the lull and weaker moments of a campaign.
It’s also worth noting that there’s crossplay between the Steam and Epic Games Store versions of the game, which means you’re free to play with whoever you want — even if your friends maintain a single provider. Blind levels against Epic Games Store.
As a definite mech lover, I can say that I’ll get into the PC version as soon as I can temporarily satisfy my desires for computers.
