Pokemon Fans didn’t have to wait long Search blurry leaked images for details around Pokemon scarlet and violet versions. Today during presents a Pokemon Livestream, Nintendo showed a slew of footage for November’s Switch-exclusive tent poles, including new details about the legendary Pokemon that you can join your team earlier in the game than ever. Here’s the full stream (the good stuff starts around the 10 minute mark).

First announced in February, Pokemon scarlet and violet are the next mainline entries in Nintendo’s Juggernaut series of monster-collecting RPGs, marking the beginning of the ninth generation of games. Like the previous entries, 2019 Pokémon sword and Sign, they’re fully 3D, a departure from the top-down perspective that has defined gaming for the last two decades. In June, Nintendo announced Pokemon scarlet and violet a Release date 11/18.

That Duo of Legends, Koraidon and Miraidoneach appearing in scarlet and violet Versions that certainly match the legendary Pokemon of recent entries: massive dragons that are equal parts goofy-looking and elegant. But they are mobile. Today’s trailer showed how you can pilot them as real motorcycles… that can also fly. And surf. (They can also ride alongside wild Pokés.) No, I don’t know why they’re walking around with their giant hoops on their legs.

That Koraidon and Miraidon are so important to traversal suggests you might unlock them sooner than ever. Historical, Pokemon Matches give you a chance to get the Legendary Pokemon between your battles against the seventh and eighth Gym Leaders. But it’s hard to imagine scarlet and violet Prevent them from using vital traversal techniques to get around until you get close to the endgame. You usually get your bike somewhere early in the game while the other Traversal features are occurring midway. It’s unclear if all options are unlocked from the start, but it’s worth noting that this is an open-world game – so they might have to factor in the possibility of you going in any direction.

In addition, today’s stream answered a lot of open questions Pokemon scarlet and violet, including the region name. The Games will take place in the Paldea region, which is located in the Iberian Peninsula (which includes Spain and Portugal). These versions are completely open world.

While scarlet and violet don’t have the Mega Evolutions that befouled their predecessor, there’s a new type of battle: Tera Raid Battles. Pokémon can “terastalize” – a very real word used by today’s announcer – into different types by absorbing crystals, which seems to be confirmed the leaks of this summer. For example, Nintendo is promoting a Pikachu that can transform into a flying dude as a pre-order bonus.

For the first time in series history scarlet and violet Various professors or science-savvy adults will appear, who tend to act as both mentors and quest-givers for the younger player characters. scarlet‘s Sada wears prehistoric-style clothing violet‘s Turo rocks a futuristic bodysuit, leading some fans to speculate about possible time travel elements in the game. The whole thing too The internet is obsessed with the pros for, um, other reasons (which you can probably guess).

The entire Pokédex isn’t publicly available yet, although Nintendo has teased the main Pokémon. Two of the starters– the grass cat Sprigatito and the fire lizard Fuecoco – are worth considering for your team. (The water-duck Pokémon Quaxly has rightly been pilloried as a total cop.) But perhaps no Gen 9 Pokémon has garnered more attention than Lechonk, a sad-eyed baby pig who was — and my colleague Ashley Bardhan spot on with their analysis here– looks like it would make for a tasty sandwich meat.
