Yankees fans convinced the umpires stole Sunday’s game against the Cardinals

The New York Yankees suffered a dizzying loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, and fans are convinced the umpires are to blame.

That New York Yankees lost 12-9 to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. The fans are convinced that the referees are to blame for the downfall.

Ed Hickox was the referee for the game, and according to Ump Scorecards, he cited 92 percent accuracy and 91 percent overall consistency, both slightly below average. The scorecard clearly favors St. Louis and suggests a +3.01 run difference in a game decided by … three runs.

Fans believe the announcement was unfair in the Yankees vs. Cardinals game

Several fans are taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One fan called the Cardinals’ win “cheating.”

Another fan who doesn’t often seem to blame the umpires for game outcomes agrees that Hickox cost the Yankees a win.

Even the commenters questioned some of the calls made.

In a game clip, the commentators explained: “Even [Aaron] The judge is confused about this.”

The inaccurate calls have certainly been frustrating for Yankees fans, and it’s a loss that could possibly have been avoided.

New York sits first in the competitive AL East standings, well above .500. According to FanGraphs, they have a 100 percent chance of making the playoffs. Inaccurate calls and unnecessary losses could hamper their success this season and potentially seeding the playoffs.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Hickox has made inaccurate calls.

The big track ranked Hickox as the ninth-worst umpire in MLB. He is in the 20th percentile for expected accuracy and 18th percentile for consistency. This won’t be the last time he upsets baseball fans.
