Xscape fans say this photo could be evidence of problems with group brewing

LaTocha Scott, of pioneering ’90s R&B girl group Xscape, let fans know why she wasn’t dressed to match her bandmates Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and sister Tamika Scott at her recent red carpet appearance for this year’s Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas, where they accepted the prestigious Lady of Soul Award.

It won’t air until Saturday, November 26, but the weekend saw recordings for the annual ceremony celebrating soul and R&B. The foursome appeared stunning on the red carpet as always, but one thing was obvious — not everyone was on the same page. Kandi, Tiny and Tamika all appeared in similar champagne-colored dresses, while LaTocha wore a lime green dress with a gold belt.

Fans quickly took to the comments section, where they reacted to the incident, including one online user who wrote: “You didn’t get the memo but your BLOOD sister is in the group…. who I’m sure you talk to regularly didn’t tell you, you must all be upset.

Another person quipped, “Lotocha gave David Ruffin vibes. She was like I was Latosha Scott and that’s the Xscape Girls.”

LaTocha later took to her Instagram page and shared a group photo. She left a lengthy caption about the experience, writing, “Still in a high from last night” and how grateful she was “to receive the #LadyOfSoul award. To still be hugged after 29 years is very humbling.” Closing out her post, the “Can’t Hang” singer addressed the simmering topic, writing, “**Sorry I didn’t get the memo but everyone still looked great.”

Fans also noticed that Kandi was untagged in her post, including one person who wrote, “So should we just ignore Kandi being untagged? I appreciate Chile. No more Xscape reality shows. If it’s going to do more harm than good, DON’T DO IT!”

“LaTocha and her husband have always been the problem. I said what I said lol,” added another.

Tension seemed to be brewing for some time after the group decided to go on a small tour. However, LaTocha dropped out of several upcoming shows. But TMZ reports that the group hasn’t disbanded. Instead, the singer said she decided against participating with the girls and distanced herself completely after her husband and talent manager Rocky Bevins got in touch with the tour’s promoter.
