XCOMlike Marvel’s Midnight Suns has a new look and release date

Marvel’s Midnight Sun is back with Spider-Manthe fight, and starts on October 7th. After a rocky reception back then it was revealed firstthe superhero strategy game from the creators of XCOM has some new faces including the ever-popular parasite Venom.
Originally slated for March, Firaxis Games creative developer Jake Solomon announced last November that that would be the case instead to be late until the second half of 2022 to add more story, cinematics and polish to the game. That was after much fan skepticism according to a previous live stream of the game that showed some uneven visuals and that midnight suns was not only XCOM transported to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Here’s the new trailer Portrayal of Spidey attempting to help Blade and others defeat a corrupted Venom:
The game focuses on the likes of Blade, Ghost Rider and Marvel’s other supernatural superheroes who help the Avengers take on Lilith, the mother of demons attempts to unleash the Elder God Chthon. Against this Lovecraftian backdrop, the characters fight isometric, turn-based battles against fallen villains like Sabertooth, walk around their homeland base, and engage in conversational dialogue trees.
One of the curveballs that surprised fans of Marvel and Firaxis Games was midnight suns‘ Using a card system to decide what actions players can take in battle. Unlike the usual war of attrition in a XCOMit would hardly be the first strategy game borrowed from trading card games and deck builders.
After the incredible success of things like Kill the towermany recent indie games have taken a hybrid approach, mixing and matching traditional turn-based elements with maps. Floppy Knights, which came to Steam and Game Pass Last month, is the latest example and it’s excellent.
Marvel’s Midnight Sun is cross-gen on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, and is also coming to Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. However, it will be $70 on the new-gen consoles.
