Xander Zayas lights up Quincy LaVallais to win UD

Xander Zayas fought his first 8 innings at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden and won with Quincy LaVallais.

Young Xander Zayas didn’t get a knockout against Quincy LaVallais on Saturday, March 19, but he may have had his best game yet Boxing performance in his career.

The 19-year-old Puerto Rican, who now lives in Florida, helped pack for the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. It’s almost a home battle that you can win for Zayas despite being more than 1,000 miles away from home.

The biggest drama for Zayas came before the war. His trainer, Javiel Centeno, had to go to the hospital before the competition due to severe back spasms and a pinched nerve.

Centeno shouts instructions to Zayas in a wheelchair while Zayas’ stepfather trains him in the ring between rounds.

Coach Zayas’ illness didn’t help Zayas.

Zayas (13-0.9 KO) fought brilliantly in his first 8 rounds. He looked as if he could go 10 laps without a problem.

Zayas shows quick reflexes and even quicker hands. He kept LaVallais on his back all night and made LaVallais’ old generals eat raw skins.

LaVallais (12-3-1, 7 KOs) vs Zayas losses but was never beaten. Zayas tested LaVallais’ chin on round 2 and round 6.

During those rounds, Zayas emptied LaVallais and hit him several times in the body and head. LaVallais offered little feedback but somehow took Zayas’ best punches without being knocked down.

The doctor checked LaVallais’ penalty area at the beginning of the 7th half but still allowed LaVallais to go on.

LaVallais made it to the final ring, but Zayas won by unanimous decision.

Zayas can’t KO but looks super sharp. He lands left hooks to his torso and head, right hooks and top hooks, and is rarely hit.

Zayas is a serious ultra-lightweight outlook who was ahead of the curve at such a young age. This is a great way to usher in 2022 for Zayas, whose star continues to grow.
