As stated earlier, Johnny Gargano is officially a freelance agent and he has opened a shop on Pro Wrestling Tees. Kyle O’Reilly also ended up with NXT this week but WWE insiders don’t believe they’ll be gone for long.
Dave Meltzer In the Wrestling Observer Bulletin, it was noted that both men had children in early 2022, and while neither has signed new contracts, WWE has the impression that they are just resting.
Meltzer says the signal given to Gargano is that he will likely wait for his wife Candice to give birth in February before he does anything, and those close to him have said his next move him in wrestling was a tough decision after being given strong offers to stay.
Meltzer said that NXT insiders were under the impression that both Gargano and O’Reilly would return but it’s worth noting that neither of the men signed new contracts and they would be on leave even if re-signed. Bryan Danielson was in a similar position earlier this year when he chose not to sign a new contract so he could keep his options open.
After NXT 2.0 aired on Tuesday, Gargano and O’Reilly stuck together after the show and it was clear that Gargano was the most emotional of the two.
WWE is open to both returning as O’Reilly will have a feud with Von Wagner if he returns and Gargano will be willing to have a feud with Grayson Waller.
