WWE Cards 1st of 2022, matches, dates, rumors, predictions, match cards, start times, locations

WWE decided to make an unusual move to start in 2022, scheduling the Day 1 pay-per-view event for New Year’s Day. The action will begin at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

There are no WWE pay-per-view events scheduled for December, so all of the weekly TV focus will be built for the big January 1 event. A title match rivalry was established, with Big E defending the WWE Championship against both Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens in a three-threat match. More matches will be made in the coming weeks, with all of the promoted men’s and women’s world titles expected to be defended on the cards.

As with all major WWE events, Day 1 will stream live on Peacock. The main pass will begin at 8 p.m. ET after the opening show an hour ago.

Let’s take a look back at what we know – and what we expect – at WWE Day 1.

WWE 1 Matches of the Day

WWE Championship – Big E(c) vs Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens: In late October, Rollins won a ladder match on Raw, securing him a future title. That was largely overlooked in November when Big E was tied to Roman Reigns and the Survivor Series. Rollins then announced that he would win his title on Day 1, only to see Owens – who had recently turned his heel by attacking Big E – face Big E with the stipulation that Owens would get into the match with a win. Owens was able to incite Rollins to attack him during the match, which resulted in Owens being named the winner upon disqualification and his participation in the Day 1 title match confirmed.

WWE Day 1 Predictions

Global Championships – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Brock Lesnar: Reigns defeated Lesnar at the Crown Jewel with a lot of help from The Usos. An angry Lesnar attacked SmackDown, an attack made to take down WWE’s official Adam Pearce. Lesnar was later suspended for his actions. After Sami Zayn won a battle royal on SmackDown to decide the next challenger for the Reigns title, it was announced Lesnar would return to SmackDown on December 3. The beginning of the new year between Reigns and Lesnar will mean a lot more than Reigns vs Zayn. Then again, the Lesnar vs. Reigns may not take place until WrestleMania.

Women’s Raw Championship – Becky Lynch (c) vs Liv Morgan: Morgan has cemented a headline shot, with that chance booked for the December 6 issue of Raw. With less than a month to build a new opponent, it looks like easy play for WWE will be one unsatisfactory ending on Raw and a rematch is set for Morgan. Lynch has been in fine form since returning from a sabbatical to give birth to her first child, having had good matches against nearly everyone she has set foot in the ring. That would give Morgan a good chance to be elevated by hosting her own with Lynch on a big stage.

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Charlotte Flair (c) vs Toni Storm: Like Lynch, Flair is a champion in need of a new challenger. It looks like WWE chose Storm to fill that role. Storm and Flair have combined it in recent weeks, including Flair hitting Storm in the face with two pies on the post-Thanksgiving version of SmackDown. With no other obvious options left for Flair, let’s hope Storm gets a chance at a title fight.

Raw Tag Team Championship – RK-Bro (c) vs Dirty Dawgs: RK-Bro is the focus of weekly Raw and has been tied by a series of matches against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler. While there are many possibilities for turning the game into four dimensions including The Street Profits and AJ Styles & Omos, it is clear that Dirty Dawgs will challenge in some capacity.
