Wrestling superstar Kenny Omega returned to Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom event after not appearing since 2019. And he returned in style, dressing up as famous Final Fantasy VII Villain Sephiroth and even stepped in to the classic villain’s theme song “One Winged Angel”.

Considered by some to be one of the best wrestlers out there, Kenny Omega, real name Tyson Smith, has spent the last few years in America with AEW, a relatively new wrestling promotion that has become a real competitor to longtime WWE. But today in Japan, Omega returned to Wrestle Kingdom –one of the largest annual wrestling events in the country– after a three-year absence. And as with his previous gigs, he used his love for video games to create a hell of an entrance.

Another addition to the final fantasy Connection, large screens behind Omega showed images connected to Sephiroth and his famous wings. The former AEW World Champion took on Will Ospreay IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. (Spoilers: He won the match, which was one of the best of the night.)

While this entrance and video game-themed outfit quickly went viral online, it’s far from the first time Omega has used music or costumes from video games. In 2019 he wore an outfit inspired by Sans The Skeleton– a figure from Undertale—during an AEW event. In 2018, at a previous Wrestle Kingdom, he donned a costume inspired by Pharah, complete with a rocket launcher. (Pharah is a high flying character from over watch.) Omega has a finisher called “The one-winged angel“ Also for years.

He has also appeared in videos giant bomb a few times including a very funny incident iwith him and Austin Creed from WWE, another big player. Both wrestlers had to carefully maneuver in and out of frame so that neither could be seen on screen at the same time as a wrestler from a competing promotion.
