One of the cutest things about Wordle, and also one of the most important things if you value any form of success with the game, is your choice of starting words. For most players, this is probably their favorite combination of vowels and consonants, but if you Actually If you want to get things done quickly, math now has a word you should use instead.
As Grant “3Blue1Brown” Sanderson did work out (through the Polygon), which in the vast majority of cases is: CRANE. Take that information and run with it if you want, but actually What’s interesting here is how Sanderson came up with that answer.
To that end, he built a bot that can process more than 12,000 words, then ran all of those findings through an algorithm that with each turn pulls out each word that might follow. For example, in his first attempt in the video below, Sanderson starts with CRANE, then is asked to track that down with SHTIK, and after getting all that data the bot gets him correct answer — SHARD — only on the third attempt.
I will note here that Sanderson is not the first to try this; programmer Adam Kubaryk says SOARE and SAINE are the best, while strategist Rob Miller wrote a script for him “TARES, followed by LARES, RALES, RATES and CARES”.
However, you should watch the full video above, because the way Sanderson explains how he puts all of this together and the math that underlies it, is not only engaging, but offers a lot. arguments supporting his choice of CRANE over some of the other options (however, since we’re only talking about five letters here, they could all be practically equally good).
And yet, I also ask you not to play for real Wordle—Or many other games! -Like this. From GameFAQs to YouTube to speed things up on the user side the way games like OH developed, there is a strong tendency in modern video games to constantly try to play in the most optimal way possible. That there’s always a faster, cleaner way to play something, and until you know that path, you’re somehow doing it wrong, or more accurately, not doing it like that. right as you can.
We don’t have to play everything such. Fate 2, probably. But Wordle? Just damn and have fun with it!
