While the tray appeared to contain perfect cuts of lamb, the customer made a frustrating discovery when she peeled off the plastic wrap.
She claims that a lamb chop, which had significantly more fat than the other cuts, was placed under the meat product’s label.
“The old trick ‘let’s hide the shitty meat under the label,'” she wrote in her Facebook post.
“Do better, Woolworths. The cost of supporting ourselves is hard enough.”
Despite shoppers’ concerns, 7NEWS.com.au understands machines are being used to apply labels to packaging of Woolworths meat.
Woolworths responds
A Woolworths spokesman said the supermarket was disappointed with the shopper’s experience.
“We pride ourselves on offering our customers high quality cuts of meat and we are disappointed to see this,” the spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.
“If our customers are ever disappointed with the quality of our fresh meat, we encourage them to return it to their local store for a replacement or refund.”
7NEWS.com.au understands Woolworths is keen to investigate the matter with its meat delivery partner and issue a refund to the customer.
