Woman on mobility scooter hit by car in Whittlesea, northeast of Melbourne

A woman is fighting for her life after the electric scooter she was riding was hit by a car northeast of Melbourne.

The collision happened at around 5.40pm on Sunday at the corner of Church Street and Beech Street in Whittlesea.

The unknown woman was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man driving the car stopped at the scene of the accident.

The police are investigating the incident and officers were on site overnight.

Anyone with information or a CCTV or dashcam of the collision has been urged to contact police.
