Woman killed when car crashes off cliff into river in Victoria’s Toombon

A woman died in a crash in east Victoria on Saturday.

Rescue workers rushed to the scene after a car traveling on Donnellys Creek Road in Toombon crashed down a cliff and into Donnelys Creek around 10.20am.

Two occupants of the car – a man and a woman – were rescued from the creek by passers-by and taken to hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the car, a woman who has not yet been officially identified, died at the scene of the accident.

Aerial photos show the car, believed to be four-wheel drive, in the river at the bottom of the cliff.
