Woman dies in boating accident on Lake Pueblo – Greeley Tribune

A woman died in a boating accident at Lake Pueblo State Park on Saturday, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

The woman died “despite life-saving measures” by Parks and Wildlife staff, the agency said in a statement. The statement did not provide details about when the accident happened or what happened; A spokesman for the department did not immediately respond to a request for more information on Sunday.

The deceased woman has not been publicly identified.

She is at least the fifth person to have died on the lake so far this year. At 4:37 p.m. Friday, a woman was reported missing from the shore; Her body was found about 10 minutes later in about 20 feet of water, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. She has not been publicly identified.

In June, a swimmer drowned in the lake, and in May, a boat with 13 people on board capsized and two people died.

So far in 2022, 22 people have drowned in Colorado — that will rise to 23 if Friday’s death is confirmed as a drowning and 24 if the woman who died Saturday is found to have drowned. In 2020, 34 people drowned in the state, a record high, and authorities pushed ahead with water safety this summer.
