Woman accused of assaulting and sexually assaulting Melbourne’s Albert Park Lake

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting and assaulting a woman in Melbourne.
The woman is understood to be sitting by a dam of Albert Park Lake around 11.15pm on Friday when a 42-year-old man approached her, Victoria Police said.
The unknown man is said to have physically and sexually assaulted the woman before she managed to escape.

The man then pursued her as she asked passers-by for help.
Police officers nearby then arrested the Prahran man.
He was charged with a range of offenses including: sexual assault, sexual assault through forced sexual touching, assault with intent to commit sexual assault, common law assault and committing a criminal offense while on bail.
He is expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
