Michigan defensive back Dax Hill is expected to play, despite his questionable condition on New Year’s Eve morning. Hill showed up at the team hotel last night.
Hill did not accompany the team to the Orange Bowl and did not travel with the team as recently as Thursday morning. However, Hill is expected to sue, despite being flagged as suspect by Harbaugh himself.
Hill is currently with the team, that’s the latest update provided by The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach.
“His condition will be in doubt,” Harbaugh said Thursday on a Zoom call with Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. “He’s working through something right now. Today we will know more about whether he can play or not. He could be here today. He may not. But not in Florida right now, no. ”
Harbaugh didn’t want to show Georgia the cards, even though there was information about them on social media. Hill was the first team All-Big Ten performer in the nickel corner.
Michigan Football: Why is Dax Hill missing?
Michigan has yet to explain why Hill is absent in the first place. His brother, the Baltimore Ravens running back to Justice Hill, was recently put on the COVID-19 list by his team. It is not clear whether Dax contracted the virus.
When Michigan’s players were asked about Hill, they simply passed the question on to their head coach.
“You know, it’s not our job to comment on other players, so we’ll let Coach Harbaugh answer that question,” quarterback Cade McNamara said Wednesday.
Rod Moore is likely to be Hill’s replacement in defence if he is unable to play. Thankfully, it looks like Michigan should have one of their defensive players ready for the 7:30 p.m. ET Orange Bowl tilt against the Bulldogs.
