Woj says Ben Simmons trade may not come until NBA Draft 2022

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski points out that there’s “no movement” in the Ben Simmons commercial story – and there probably won’t be any until the 2022 NBA Draft.

Consistently since last summer, Ben Simmons trade rumors rose a notch in December, when December 15th opened the door for more trading possibilities for the sideline point guard.

Even so, NBA fans will likely wait until the Summer of 2022 for any Ben Simmons deals to actually materialize.

Speaking on ESPN’s NBA Today, Adrian Wojnarowski laughed as he reminded Malika Andrews that a Ben Simmons deal is unlikely to come anytime soon.

“Malika, yes Are not movement,” said Wojnarowski. “And listen, we could be in this situation for the rest of the NBA Draft.”

Rumors about Ben Simmons’ commercial packages seem to fluctuate from day to day, as reports earlier this week indicated that the 76ers are interested in attached Tobias Harris for potential Simmons commercial packages.

Even Kyle Kuzma seems skeptical of any Harris/Simmons deal, wondering how to “pack 80 million”.

Simmons himself doesn’t seem bothered about his trading status, focusing instead on his personal life. Simmons proposed to his girlfriend and British TV presenter Maya Jama earlier this week while Joel Embiid was “fighting for his life”, as one Twitter user put it.

As Simmons has moved on from his team in spirit, so have they from him. The 76ers are currently a candidate for playoff tickets with fifth place in the Eastern rankings, thanks to the efforts of Embiid and his teammates.

The athlete’s Sam Amick just released more details on Simmons’ potential commercial and return destinations, but 2022 still doesn’t stand a chance for the young point guard. As Wojnarowski notes, it could be almost a year after Simmons announced his interest in a transaction that one could eventually materialize.
