The Nintendo Switch was released five years ago, and being a very good system with some very good games, most of us have spent that time putting together a fairly large library of software. When yours has grown so big that it will difficult to cope with in 2022the console’s latest firmware update has something that might help.

Version 14.0.0 has just been released by Nintendo, and while it adds some Bluetooth audio stuff, the main point is the introduction of “Groups”, a new way to organize the console’s home screen. Previously, your recently played games were arranged in a single horizontal line, and that was basically all the Switch could do.

However, now users can group their games into folders however they like, and then name them however they like. It’s a feature that many users have been clamoring for years Now, and now that it’s here, anyone who owns enough games to matter will find that they can create up to 100 different groups and store up to 200 games in each of them.

Here is Nintendo’s official patch notes for the group announcement:

Ver. 14.0.0 (released March 21, 2022)

Added Groups feature to All Software menu.

– You can now create software groups to organize your software titles.

– Creating groups for different game genres, developers or whatever you want to organize can make it easier to find the application you want. Up to 100 groups can be created with a maximum of 200 tracks per group.

– The button to go to the All Software screenn only appears if there are 13 or more software title icons on the system.

And this is how they work. First create a group:

This is how devices like smartphones have worked for over a decade, of course, but hey, it’s better to get the 2022 than never have gotten it.
