With Netflix, you might be able to use an iPhone to control games on your TV

According to Moser, the iOS app appears to contain code that says, “A game on your TV requires a controller to play. Would you like to use this phone as a game controller?”

Netflix first launched its mobile games service in late 2021 and earlier this month announced that it has released 55 games so far, with 40 more to come this year. But these games are only playable on iOS and Android devices – they are not available on screens like TVs or laptops. Using your phone as a controller would be one way Netflix needs to release its own game controller, like Google did for its now-defunct Stadia service. Netflix also said this month that work on a cloud gaming service is “underway” after the company first announced it was “seriously looking into” the project in 2022, and maybe you can use your phone to cloud -Control games from this service.

Netflix spokeswoman Chrissy Kelleher declined to comment.
