Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade postponed from Russian studio, delayed

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade for The witcher 3 won’t arrive any time soon. In fact, CD Projekt Red announced today that it will be postponed indefinitely. This follows the decision to bring development of the next-gen version back in-house, having previously been in the hands of Saber Interactive’s Russia office.

“We have decided to let our in-house development team do the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt“, CDPR wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. “We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be carried out and as such have to postpone the release of Q2 until further notice.”

CDPR confirmed at the time that Saber Interactive somehow managed to do that port the game to the Nintendo Switch in 2019 would lead the development of the next-gen versions. “You already know our technology very well,” CDPR President Adam Kiciński told investors at the time.

The X/S version of the PS5 and Xbox series was supposed to arrive last year but has been pushed back to this summer. The company also recently announced that it has already started work on one new open world witcher Game with Unreal Engine 5.
