Matt Murray’s time with the Ottawa Senators did not go as planned after being acquired in a trade with the Pittsburg Penguins. He won the Stanley Cup twice with the Penguins. He had a career-worst result in the 2020-21 season with 10-13-1, a 3.38 GAA and an .893 save ratio in 27 games, 25 of which were starts.

He had a 0-5-0 score that season with a 3.26 GAA and an .890 save ratio before being placed on waivers on November 27. The following day he was assigned to Belleville of the American Hockey League, as noted on nhl.com. Although an injury forced him to miss Ottawa’s last 29 games, he was plating relatively well upon his return from Belleville.
