Wisconsin Disappointed by Iowa State: Updated Crazy March Quotes

The No. 11 Iowa tornado caused another disappointment, as they beat the No. 3 Wisconsin Badgers 54-49.

The 2022 NCAA tournament was full of turmoil, including No. 2 Kentucky losing to No. 15 Saint Peter’s in the first round and No. 1 Baylor being knocked out by No. 8 UNC Tar Heels in the second round. As for the Wisconsin Badgers #3, they’ll be sent home soon when it’s expected to head deep into March Madness.

On Sunday, the Badgers lost 54-49 to Iowa State Cyclones No. 11, who knocked out LSU Tigers No. 6 in the opening round.

The Cyclones took a 27-26 lead after halftime, but Wisconsin took a 28-27 lead thanks to a Chris Vogt header with more than 18 minutes on the clock. Iowa State took the lead through Gabe Kalsecheur’s three-pointer, and never looked back for the rest of the game.

Wisconsin have struggled on their shots, as they have a scoring ratio of 29.8 (14 to 47) and a three-point ratio of 9.1 (2 to 22). Perhaps most telling is that Badgers fouls more times (17) and fouls (18) than he shoots (14).

Kalsecheur was the lead for the Cyclones as he scored 22 points while shooting 10 to 19 from the field. He also scored four rebounds, two steals and an assist.

March 2022 bracket update: Who will Iowa State play next in the NCAA Tournament?

With their first stop in the Sweet Round of 16 since 2016, Iowa State will face the winner of a match between the Auburn Tigers No. 2 and No. 10 Miami Hurricanes. That match will be on Friday, March 25.

If the Cyclones win the 16 Sweet match, they’ll face either the #1 Kansas Jayhawks or #4 Providence Friars.
