BALTIMORE (WJZ) – As the song says, “What a day makes a difference!” From a near-record high of 70 on Thursday to a low of 30 tonight, a strong cold front crossed the area around 5 a.m. with gusts of more than 50 mph.
Sunny skies returned on Friday as temperatures continued to drop into the afternoon.
A second cold front will approach the area around noon on Saturday. Winds will pick up again and average 15-25 mph.
But when the front passes, they can jerk as fast as 40 or 50 mph! It is strong enough to damage trees and branches as well as restrain the bridge again. Winds will ease on Saturday evening along with dry and cold conditions.
There is a chance that the outside is ahead could produce some rain or even sleet as it passes through the area. The best chance for any sleet is across Southern Pennsylvania.
On Sunday, it will be sunny but chilly air will prevail over the area.
A chilly Sunday night will give way to a big warm-up on Monday as we could hit 60 degrees again.
Warmer air should last until Thursday and we could hit 70 again on Wednesday! However, it will be cold again by the end of the week.
Have a great weekend and stay safe! Bob Turk
