Will the Sooners host the NCAA Tournament?

The Oklahoma basketball team is trying to figure out what’s next for their season. Will the Sooners compete in the 2022 NCAA Tournament?

The Oklahoma basketball team this season is a bit weird. At the time, the Sooners seemed solid. They are capable of beating the likes of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and can provide some pretty impressive challenges for the big 12 blue-bloods.

But is Oklahoma’s résumé good enough for the Sooners to actually make it to the 2022 NCAA Tournament? Will the Sooners be able to compete against the best teams in the country at one of the most intense sporting events of the year?

If you ask ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, the Sooners don’t have much of a chance to make it to the NCAA Tournament right now.

According to Lunardi’s bracket, Oklahoma is now reportedly going to be outside looking at the NCAA Tournament. Currently, Lunardi has the Sooners in positions of the “first four” along with the Virginia Tech Hokies, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and the Dayton Flyers.

Oklahoma Basketball: Will the Sooners Participate in the 2022 NCAA Tournament?

As with all things college sports, there is some debate about whether the Sooners deserve to be in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. They’ve proven they can beat some enemies pretty well, but the Sooners have also proven they can lose and are incredibly unstable.

Oklahoma is 18-15 in the season and just lost to the Red Raiders in the Big 12 Tournament.

For Oklahoma’s sake, it’s a pity the Sooners haven’t spent more time surviving and advancing and building their résumé in the conference league. A little more time may have been enough to earn more respect.
