Will Smith shared a lengthy apology to Chris Rock.
Just one day removed from the Oscars scandalous slap, Will Smith released a statement apologizing to Chris Rock.
The apology was shared on his official Instagram page on Monday night and is a two-picture slide, with words he wants Rock and the public to read.
The apology comes just hours after the Academy announced it would be investigating the incident and fans speculated that he may lose the Best Actor award as a result of the change.

“Violence in all its forms is toxic and destructive. My behavior at the Oscars last night was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s state of health was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” Smith wrote. “I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am ashamed and my actions do not represent the man I want to be. There is no room for violence in a world of love and compassion.”
“I also want to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees, and all the people watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has tarnished what was once a beautiful journey for all of us. I’m in the process of working.”
Rock denied the allegation.
