Will Quinn Ewers shift rule of Texas away from the Arch Manning rat race?

Will Quinn Ewers’ move to Texas eliminate the Longhorns from the Arch Manning sweepstakes?

In the midst of the training carousel frenzy, it’s been reported that winger Quinn Ewers is leaving Ohio State and entering the transfer window. On Sunday, Ewers announced that he move to Texas to play under head coach Steve Sarkisian.

While Longhorns fans are celebrating what is believed to be their biggest win of the year, they have to wonder if this will put the show off the table as the Arch Manning quarterback recruitment is so sought after. Are not.

Will the Quinn Ewers transfer take Texas out of the race for Arch Manning?

Even if Texas lands one of the biggest transfer players in the country at Ewers, that shouldn’t remove them from their commitment to Manning.

Manning will be entering college football as a member of the class of 2023. That year, Ewers will be a junior and potentially in his sophomore year as the Longhorns starting quarterback. There’s always the possibility that Ewers could enter the NFL Draft as early as 2024, meaning Manning could have a chance to be the Longhorns’ starting quarterback in his sophomore year.

It’s all hypothetical, because the ultimate decision will be up to Manning as to where he wants to play. He has many popular, interested schools looking to fulfill his commitment, such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ole Miss.

All in all, Manning could still be on the radar of Texas despite the addition of the former No. 1 player in the 2021 recruiting. Breathe easy, Longhorns fans, you’re not out of the sweepstakes yet. Manning’s reward.
