Will Matthew Stafford Become a Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Discussing sports can be a funny thing at times, especially when it comes to arguments between fan groups.

For example, being a very calm, laid-back person by nature, I don’t understand how people can deal with such petty issues. However, when those people overreact to what happens in sports, I get screwed.

Right now, the big debate going on around is whether Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford is destined to become Hall-of-Famer?

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the debates raging on Reddit and Twitter with people with very strong opinions on the matter. However, it happens when a veteran quarterback, who has spent his career on a terrible team, trades and instantly wins a Super Bowl.

Let’s find out with the experts and bet for yourself whether Stafford will make it to Canton in the end.

YES +160

The argument for Stafford was easy for me to understand but difficult for me. He put up some very strong numbers in Detroit with the team not being the best. He also hit the field and won a Super Bowl shortly after leaving Detroit. So basically, the argument for what I see is that he’s a veteran QB with good stats and then won a Super Bowl.

While a lot of people think he belongs in the Hall because he has a ring, I still can’t make it because I need to look at his entire career.

The arguments against Stafford I think will take longer to interpret to get comfortable.

Just one season ago, Stafford was the quarterback for the 5-11 team. One SB round doesn’t change that. Stafford is also the man who led a team to 10 defeats in 12 years. Hall-of-Fame is not a church. You are not forgiven for all your previous sins because you did something super positive.

There are conversations that suggest voters can stop using wins and losses as midfield metrics, and I disagree with that process. I think they should be included in every position because it helps with the stats. For example, a player can lead the league in rush speed by getting a lot of work done in junk time for the worst team in the NFL. Let’s say he does it for a couple of years, makes some Pro Bowls and sets a middleweight rush record or two. But, it’s only because his team is so bad that he enjoys surviving in garbage times. Does he deserve a place in the Hall of Fame?

While this is an extreme example, I don’t consider Stafford to be all that much different. At least before this year. Sure, he’s come up with some great numbers over the years, but what’s the result? As the general of a football team, I think a quarterback’s win-lose record is very important and makes Stafford a very distant candidate for the Hall of Fame in the book. mine.

A Super Bowl is great, but with so many losses, I recommend getting back to the table after winning another.
