Will Kurt Rambis replace Frank Vogel on the Lakers’ bench?

Los Angeles Lakers senior basketball advisor Kurt Rambis has given his “voice” on Lakers head coach Frank Vogel’s recent lineup decisions.

The Lakers finished mediocre at the top this season with a .500 parity record for a large portion of the season. Even now, the Lakers are 22-22, and while they can still make it to the knockout stages, their ambivalence still leaves much to be desired.

Apparently the Lakers felt the same way about the team’s coaching staff, especially head coach Frank Vogel. While Vogel has been vocal about the coaching staff’s tireless drive to take every win, they’ve won hard all year – and the Lakers are having serious conversations about how to fix that.

Follow LA time, Rob Pelinka and Kurt Rambis met with Vogel and assistant coach David Fizdale met to “discuss how to turn things around” after the team lost to the Sacramento Kings. It was their third such meeting in recent days at the time.

The Lakers then lost to the Denver Nuggets by 37 points, their biggest deficit of the season.

The LA Times timeline has only gotten worse for Vogel since then. After the Nuggets loss, Rambis attended a meeting for the Lakers pregnancy coaches for the first time all year, having previously attended these meetings barely. Rambis backs to get more minutes for DeAndre Jordan and Dwight Howard.

Vogel’s job is safe for now after the team’s win over the Utah Jazz, but sources point out that a loss to Jazz could easily become the “last rope.”

Can Kurt Rambis replace Frank Vogel as Lakers head coach?

While Jordan was listed as a “DNP – Coach’s Decision” in the Jazz game, Howard had eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in his 22 minutes in the game. Rambis’ presence in the coach’s meeting and his hints indicate that perhaps Rambis wanted a more involved role in making coaching decisions for the Lakers.

The 63-year-old is a Laker harking back to the team’s Showtime decline, winning four championships with the Lakers in the 1980s. He then began his coaching career with the Lakers in 1994, following then took on head coach positions with the Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks.

Although Rambis has a long coaching career, his head coach record is what should give the Lakers pause before promoting Rambis over Vogel.

Rambis has a head coaching record of 72-173, as both of his head coaching contracts ended in disaster. Rambis’ current position may have less to do with his decision making and more to do with his wife. personal connection with Jeanie Buss.

Linda Rambis, Kurt’s wife, is called “Shadow master“Of the Lakers and has even been present in coaching interviews in the past. Despite Kurt’s deep ties to the organization, the Lakers wouldn’t mind thinking that Rambis could properly address the problems Vogel was facing.
