Will Joe Snively get a callback from the Capitals and his NHL debut on Sunday?

Washington Capitals forward prospect Joe Snively has been one of the most productive strikers for the Hershey Bears this season. The Herndon, Virginia-born player has eight goals, the first against the Bears against Mike Sgarbossa. He has 14 assists, which is also the first time he has been tied with Mike Vecchione. He also had a hat trick so far this season. It’s somewhat surprising that he hasn’t been called to the Capital at this point. But is it about to happen?
Snively was dropped from the Bears lineup Saturday night, officially listed as “not available to the team.” We have heard that designation in the past. The first time we heard it was when Aliaksei Protas was a mysterious scratch from the Bears roster before the game. Protas were recovered by the Capital the next day.
Joe Snively is listed as “not on the team” tonight vs WBS Penguins. In the previous cases when a player was assigned, they were called up #Capitals tomorrow. Snively has been hot this season and deserves a look. Something to see. #HBH #ALLCAPS

Possibly the biggest sign that the hometown boy is on track or has made it to DC comes from the following Hershey Bears Head Coach Scott Allen’s comments: Bears 8-3 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday.
When asked about the mysterious scratching of one of the Bears’ top offensive movie producers, Allen replied, “Joe Snively is expected to play the role tonight. There’s a good chance he’ll be on the field tomorrow. It may not be in Hershey.”

We’ll know more tomorrow, but it looks like Snively will finally get to play the home game we’ve all been waiting for. “The hometown kid begins to come to Washington, D.C..” It’s a great ring, isn’t it?
