Wildbrain CPLG represents the licensing of peanuts in Asia Pacific

WildBrain CPLG, a leading entertainment, sports and brand licensing agency, has been appointed by Peanuts Worldwide as the exclusive licensing agent for the Peanuts brand in portions of the Asia Pacific region.

The companies already have licensing relationships in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and more recently in India. The additional agreement includes Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

Peanuts Worldwide, which owns the Peanuts characters and related intellectual property, is controlled by WildBrain Ltd., the family of Charles M. Schulz and Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), which also remains the brand’s Japanese agency.

Peanuts is WildBrain CPLG’s first new major presence in APAC since the agency announced its expansion in the region earlier this year. In April, the company opened its own offices in Seoul, Taipei and Singapore, as well as an expansion of the existing team in Shanghai.

WildBrain CPLG has appointed industry veteran Ben Peace as VP, APAC to drive strategy and growth in the region (excluding Greater China), reporting to Maarten Weck, EVP and MD, WildBrain CPLG, who also manages the overall team is responsible and stores throughout APAC.

Peace will begin in September and will be based in WildBrain’s offices in Singapore. He comes to WildBrain CPLG from Hasbro, where he is Senior Licensing Director for Asia. Before Hasbro, Peace worked at Universal Pictures where he started the merchandising business in Southeast Asia.

WildBrain China’s existing Shanghai licensing team will be expanded and renamed WildBrain CPLG China, which will report to Jianbo Wei, MD, China and work closely with Weck and Peace. Wei will continue to oversee WildBrain’s content business in China.
