Following his shocking appearance on AEW, Jeff Hardy spoke to Matt Hardy about his release from WWE on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast. Jeff went into great detail about the situation, including why he stormed out of the event in Edinburgh, Texas, which subsequently led to his dismissal from WWE.

Jeff Hardy was considered one of the most popular babyfaces in WWE

Matt had previously indicated that the company would release Jeff early, as he believed an altercation at a live WWE event would cause him to fail a drug test. Jeff showed up at Extreme Life of Matt Hardy and talked about a lot of things. “Certain things happen for a reason and subconsciously it was one of the smartest, maybe the smartest thing I’ve ever done, guided by something higher than myself.” Said Jeff Hardy.

Jeff’s final months in WWE were a ray of hope for him, and Survivor Series was a major factor in that because of the pop and cheers he received from the crowd. Jeff said “It was just weird, the best way I can describe my last few months in WWE was just glimmers of hope, like maybe I still have something, and the last glimmer of hope was Survivor Series, which was really good. Came down to me and Seth Rollins and I almost won and the crowd was so behind me I felt like one of WWE’s favorite babyfaces.

However, this was only half of the cases. The other half, Jeff felt why he was here in the first place and he didn’t feel important at all.
“Then there are other times when I’ve felt like a ghost roaming the halls, I don’t know why am I even here? I don’t feel important at all. I kept making my deal, showing up and doing what they wanted me to do, and I’ve never been a politician, so I don’t bother trying to get a certain place or status.

What happened at the live event in Texas?

“But yeah, that night in Texas, I finished my run, took the run and just said I’m ready to go. Walked over the railing, disappeared into the crowd and of course they think I did some kind of drugs or whatever but I didn’t. I mean if I was that bad I should never have gone out there, that’s how I see it.

“But yeah, it’s just another unpredictable thing I can do and I would get away with it, but it was more serious than that. It was one of the smartest things I’d ever done because it worked so perfectly, before.” All because my first day at AEW made me feel valuable for the first time. The care and love I was shown, made me feel like I was supposed to be there, I just got chills just thinking about it.
