Whitlam car crash on Sunday: Three people have been killed and two hospitalized in a horror crash near Canberra

Three people have died in a horrific two-car accident at the ACT and two have been hospitalized.

The accident happened on Coppins Crossing Road in Whitlam, west of Canberra, on Sunday afternoon.

Police said Sunday night a red Toyota hatchback collided with a white Toyota van just before 3 p.m.

Three people, all passengers in the tailgate, were killed.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital.

“At this time, an investigation is ongoing and a report for the coroner is being prepared,” ACT Policing said in a statement.

The fatalities bring the territory’s road death toll to 17 in 2022.

Anyone who has dashcam footage or has seen any of these vehicles in the area before 2.45pm is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
