Where to find game save locations for Elden Ring PC

The Elden Ring is huge and there’s a lot to miss, so knowing the location of your game’s save folder can help ensure you get as much of it as you can. Having a backup also helps protect you from unstable PC version debug save your data and you will follow good data practices in general.

To begin, enable hidden folders in Windowsthen go to the following file path: C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing.

Your save file directory will be a long string of seemingly random numbers. To back it up, copy that folder to another location on your hard drive, preferably where you keep other important game data. There are two other files in the “EldenRing” location dedicated to your graphics settings and Steam validation, but those you can leave alone. Those are the numbers you want.

To restore an older save, simply overwrite the folder in AppData with the folder you copied earlier. Once done, any additional progress you’ve made on your current save will be lost, but you’ll be free to progress from anywhere in your previous playthrough.

It’s good policy to back up your saves regularly, as data corruption is a constant threat no matter what platform you’re on. Bandai Namco announced that it’s investigating some issues related to performance, as well as save issues on PS5.
