Where to find Chains in the Elden Ring – and what it does

The Elden Ring’s Chain Material certainly screams “best-seller” just by looking at it, but we can confidently say it’s well worth a hold. This item is the only difference between pot-making and wired bots, and this distinction is important to know when fighting swarms of enemies. Unfortunately, Strings are very limited in the game, but the kind of enemies you can kill it are some of the easiest you’ll ever fight.

While the Chain can be found on corpses all over the map, it is mainly gathered from looting Demi-Humans, goblin-like enemies often armed with sticks. You can fight some Demi-Humans just north of Limgrave’s Seaside Caves or under a bridge just north of Mistwood Ruins (as highlighted below). Crafting materials are not guaranteed to drop from this creature after each fight, but you should definitely get at least one Chain after defeating three or four.

Strings can only be used to craft Elemental Wired Pots, including Wired Fire Pots, Wired Holy Water Pots, Wired Poison Pots, and Wired Fetid Pots. Since regular pots can only be thrown forward, wire pots can be dropped from behind you. So they make great tools when fighting swarms or enemies that tend to chase you relentlessly.
