The South Carolina Gamecocks entered the 2022 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament as the #1 pick. This is a team that has only lost two games all season. Now they stand tall as national champions.
On Sunday, South Carolina defeated the No. 2 UConn Huskies 64-49 to win the national championship at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This was quite an impressive performance for the Gamecocks as the Huskies have never lost as they have made it to the national finals in the last 11 times. Now South Carolina can say they are undefeated in the Finals, having won their only appearance in 2017.
Senior Destanni Henderson led the way for South Carolina, scoring 26 points while shooting 9-for-20 from the field. Junior Aliyah Boston recorded a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
The Gamecocks women’s basketball program is National Champion for the second year in history.
