With so many Pokémon to be found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it’s only natural that some of them aren’t particularly exciting. But even the most memorable Pokemon still deserve some love, especially as many of them later evolve into more exciting versions. Such is the case with the unassuming Shroomish, one of a long list of Grass-type Pokémon you’re likely to encounter early on in your travels through Paldea. Also, you’ll need one to complete your Pokédex anyway.

How to catch Shroomish
You can find Shroomish in two fairly large sections of Paldea, one northeast of Cascarrafa and another in the lands spanning the river that flows southeast to the sea. According to his Pokédex entry, Shroomish prefers to be near trees and in the shade. When we first caught Shroomish (in the southeastern habitat), it wasn’t near any trees, although it was in the shade of a cliff.
When fighting Shroomish, remember to exploit his weaknesses to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison attacks. If you’re trying to slightly lower its HP to catch it, consider using ground, rock, or water attacks, to which it’s resistant, instead. Also keep in mind that Shroomish tends to heal frequently, so going underHP long enough to toss a Poké Ball can be a challenge. As a member of your party, Shroomish has fairly lackluster base stats with a solid max HP. It at least has the ability to use that HP in combination with Poison Heal, an ability that causes poison damage to heal instead of hurting itself. Shroomish has an evolution as it will evolve into Breloom at level 23.
