An veteran of the franchise, Growlithe has been in the game since the very first generation and was one of the first Pokemon to use the Firestone to evolve into Arcanine, which boasts a wide movepool with great coverage options. With so much potential in its development, it’s safe to say that Growlithe has both the bark and the bite to earn a spot on your team. Here’s how to grab your own Growlithe in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to catch Growlithe in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Growliths are an uncommon spawn found in mines and rocky biomes, roaming around Southern Province (Area Three) and Eastern Province (Area Three) at all hours of the day. Fixed spawns were also observed in Eastern Province (Area Two), Northern Province (Area Two), and Southern Province (Area Three). Also, they can be encountered in 2-star Tera Raid Dens, although like most other Pokemon, you’ll have better luck finding their overworld spawns.
In its regular form, Growlithe is a pure Fire-type Pokémon that takes extra damage from Water, Ground, and Rock-type attacks, while taking less damage from Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel, and Fairy-type attacks.
Be careful using Fire and Dark-type attacks in general though, as one of Growlithe’s regular abilities is Flashfire, which increases the damage Growlithe deals with its own Fire-type attacks after being hit by a damaging Fire-type attack and negates fire damage once activated. Not only that, his hidden ability Justified increases his Attack when hit by a Dark-type move, so keep that in mind when fighting it. Utilize Growlithe’s weaknesses and resistances according to your own team’s level, add a status effect, and it should be a pretty easy capture.
