When was the last time Gonzaga won the NCAA?

Gonzaga is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season, but are still looking for their first National Championship.

Mark Few Bulldogs have the potential to be #1 choice in Chet Holmgren, big star Drew Timme and trusted point guard in Andrew Nembhard.

Could this be the year they get over the hump as Gonzaga prepares to appear in the seventh straight round of Sweet 16? Take a look at their history before previewing their next game against Arkansas.

As I mentioned above, Gonzaga has never won the National Championship, but the team has almost never, ever, lost a title match in 2017 and 2021.

Gonzaga compiled an undefeated campaign last season before losing to Baylor in the title game, 86-70. The team has a number of key contributors this season as well as Holmgren and Less’s impressive coaching acumen. Although the road is not as easy as other teams have, the Bulldogs are favored by the researchers to make it to the third Finals.

WynnBET Sportsbook Gonzaga is the top scorer this season, which has been the case all season, +250 advancing to the regional semi-finals.

The Bulldogs will face Arkansas from the SEC, who have a star scorer in JD Notae and a future first-round pick Jaylin Williams. Oddsers still prefer Zags’ chances, though, ranking them as an 8.5-point favorite over the Razorbacks.

Arkansas has won 17 of 20 games, but the Bulldogs’ head-to-head record may be too much for them to get through. If Holmgren et al. take care of the business one day against the likes of Duke/Michigan Stte or Texas Tech/Notre Dame that will await them in Elite 8.

The Bulldogs have been the #1 ranked team in the nation for most of the season, according to popular college basketball analytics websites like KenPom, Haslemetrics and Bart Torvik. Anything less than a title will be a setback for Gonzaga as we move into the final stages of the college basketball season.
