Most importantly, he made his long-awaited return to WWE—this time not just for a one-off appearance, but for a full-blown feud against the Universal Champion Roman rule. the leader of the nation returned to the company in the closing moments of 2021 Money in the Bank.
Cena fought the tribal chief for an entire month and the rivalry ended at Summerslam – with Cena ending up on the losing side. But that was not all. He also experienced immense success in his Hollywood career. The 16-time WWE World Champion starred in not one but two massive blockbuster ensembles.

Fans loved John Cena’s portrayal of Peacemaker so much that the studio greenlit a television series based on the character. During the promotions of the superhero film as well as the TV series, Cena was regularly seen in his superhero costume. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, director James Gunn revealed how many times he’d asked Cena to stop taking the costume home!
“By the way, John stole this outfit. I just want to tell everyone that we asked him. Because after we shot The Suicide Squad, we shot the Peacemaker TV series, and I kept telling him to stop taking the outfit. I know it doesn’t look that expensive, but these costumes cost tens of thousands of dollars.” mentioned James Gunn.
John Cena will be donning the Peacemaker costume again
When the leader of the Cenation was signed to play the role of Peacemaker, he had believed it would only be a one-time thing. But fans loved him so much in the role that Cena got the opportunity to direct the first TV series in the DC Extended Universe. The show began airing in January 2022 and its season finale aired some time ago.
But it seems like fans just can’t get enough of John Cena as the peacemaker. Given the great love that fans showed to the show’s first season, the studio has now ordered the show’s next season. While Cena is currently busy with other projects, Peacemaker Season 2 is expected to arrive soon.
