“What a pair!” – Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad push CSK to 208; Dhonis 21(8) help with finishing touches » FirstSportz

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) achieved a huge score of 209 for Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday 8th May at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Delhi Capitals won the toss, choosing to roll first. CSK left the tournament with their first batsmen Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway, and they had been very successful in their previous game with a 182-run partnership. In this match both players added 110 runs for the first wicket.

In the 11th over, Anrich Nortje rolled a short ball and Gaikwad attempted the pull shot and quickly progressed. The ball hit the top edge and then towards the middle wicket to fall into Axar Patel’s hands. Gaikwad scored 41 balls from 33 balls. Devon Conway & Ruturaj Gaikwad – last three opening standings are 182 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 54 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore and 110 vs Delhi Capitals, Mumbai.

Devon Conway would have completed his first century this season if Khaleel Ahmed hadn’t gotten rid of the dangerous man. A slower delivery was rolled to a good length and over the mid stump. Looking tired and restless, Conway tried to pull it over the fine leg but got a weak edge on it.

DC wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant then flew to the right and made a good catch. Conway had hit 87 of 48 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes. After Conway was fired, CSK began losing fast wickets. Shubham Dube, who played brilliantly for 32/19, was sacked by Mitchell Marsh Ball in the next over after Conway’s dismissal.

Will CSK defend the huge score?

MS Dhoni

But MS Dhoni attacked again right after entering the field. He smashed 21 of 8 balls with four and two sixes. As the wickets kept falling at the other end, Dhoni stayed at the kink and helped CSK pass the 200-run mark.

This is the fourth time CSK has surpassed double the century score. Finally, they set a target of 209 for the Delhi Capitals. It will be interesting to see if they will successfully defend the goal or not because in recent games the men in yellow lost the match even after making the big runs.
