“We’re looking forward to coming to Michigan to take home a win” Austin Dillon after his end of the day in a mess at Indy » FirstSportz

The measure of how happy Richard Childress Racing was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a hard question, as if Tyler Reddick drove the No.: 8 RCR Camaro ZL1 on the road to victory, the fact that he is already committed to his future 23X1 race put a few dents on their happiness. The team will also be disappointed with another bad day at the #3 driver’s office Austin Dillon.
Unlike his teammate, Reddick, who started the race on pole, Austin Dillon, started the race from the back in P29 and finished in a disappointing P30. Austin Dillon had shown some improvement towards the end of the race and had every hope of finishing the race in the top 10 if not for the chaos he found himself in.
The crash between Austin Dillon and Petty GMS’ Erick Jones was the reason for the final caution of the race which resulted in the race going into overtime. Although the No. 3 team was able to show determination and craftsmanship out on the track it wasn’t enough for the occasion but they hope to return to the track in their upcoming outing at the next four races, as seen by Austin Dillon post-race.

Find out what Austin Dillon said
Austin Dillon admitted his team has worked hard to get the team to a good result in Indy from the P29 start, which is a tough task considering road racing offers a lot of chaos to survive, when you are tempted to climb all the way to the front from behind. He pointed out that they worked on the handling of the car throughout the race and it only came to life after the air pressure adjustment was made towards the end of the race.
“We started 29th today in our #3 BetMGM Chevrolet and my team worked all day to salvage a good result. It’s difficult to come from behind on a street course because it’s so easy to get caught up in the clutter. We worked really hard throughout the race to improve the handling of our BetMGM Chevy. We made an air pressure adjustment towards the end of the race and our car came alive‘ Austin Dillon said.
Austin Dillon went on to say that towards the end they were setting lap times as fast as the leader and were capable of a top 10 finish had it not been for the mass chaos at the end. He pointed out that he’s looking forward to getting the all-important win next week in Michigan, although his hop[eswasshotdownbythemessattheendofIndy[eswasshotdownbythemessattheendinIndyhelooksforwardtogettingtheall-importantwinnextweekatMichigan[esdurchdasChaosamEndeinIndyabgeschossenwurde[eswasshotdownbythemessattheendinIndyhelooksforwardtogettingtheall-importantwinnextweekatMichigan
“We set lap times as fast as the leader and were able to get a top 10 finish, but by the end of the race there was mass chaos. We ended up in some mess there. We’re looking forward to coming to Michigan to take home a winadded Austin Dillon.

Can Austin Dillon make the playoffs?
Austin Dillon desperately needs a win to make the playoffs as without a win he has no chance of making it into the postseason as there are already 14 different race winners this season Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr. The occupation of the playoffs was left to the winless drivers with the superior position in the points table.
The road to the playoffs is getting shorter by the day for RCR drivers and if Dillon fails to repeat the impressive performance of his teammate Tyler Reddick, who has already claimed two cup wins this season, it will be all over for the driver. Reddick’s victories show that it’s more about Austin Dillon not stepping up his game than the car and resources not being there for him.
The No. 3 driver has 4 races ahead of him to fight for victory and secure his post-season Cup Series places and the winless run he’s faced since March 2020 isn’t doing him well . Austin Dillon needs to take his game to the next level if he wants to win and the fact that road racing is on the agenda could work in his favour, as RCR has produced strong road cars.
