Wendy Williams decides to do a podcast after being dropped from a TV appearance

Wendy Williams received less than a farewell after it was announced that “The Wendy Williams Show” was canceled effective this month. The Primetime TV slot has been replaced by Comedian Sherry Shepherd and The Sherri Shepherd Show, out this fall. That decision came months after Shepherd and other innkeepers filled in for Williams in Season 14.

In her absence, the 57-year-old gossip queen battled health issues and a lawsuit against Wells Fargo Bank over access to her funds. Not to mention the acclaimed talk show host has been sidelined from the final episode of her long-running series, which aired on Friday June 17.

But no worry! Williams is reportedly planning to make even more money from her upcoming podcast. TMZ met the former radio host as she stepped out of a car in a Supreme hoodie and jean shorts, holding an expensive Birkin alligator bag.

“Podcast, of course,” Williams replied when asked what’s next. “This will make me more money than doing the TV show,” she added.

Will Selby, Williams’ manager and executive producer of the podcast, said she is less focused on television these days. He also told the outlet that she recently chatted with two of her favorites in the music world, rappers Snoop Dogg and Fat Joe.

Kevin Hunter, Williams’ ex-husband, has landed production on The Wendy Williams Show and Lionsgate-owned media company Debmar-Mercury. The former executive producer was fired from his role on the daytime talk show after Williams filed for divorce in 2019. The couple, who tied the knot in 2009, finalized their divorce a year later.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hunter admitted he didn’t like Williams’ omission from the show’s farewell episode.

“I think it’s a mockery for Debmar-Mercury to have such an unceremonious exit without Wendy involved. A lack of professionalism throughout the process and in the way they let Wendy go out,” he said. “After 13 years, the show has been a laughingstock for the past two seasons and the reasons for the show’s untimely end will come out very soon,” he added.
