When Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk first clashed ufc 248, it ended up sinking one of the greatest fights in MMA historynot to mention the biggest in women’s MMA.

The two delivered another memorable showdown at UFC 275, but for different reasons. Zhang scored a knockout of Jedrzejczyk with a spinning backfist in the second round, becoming the first fighter to knock out Jedrzejczyk in MMA and the second after Rose Namajunas to defeat Jedrzejczyk.

After the fight, Jedrzejczyk announced her retirement.

After many quick feints from Jedzejczyk at the start, Jedzejczyk landed some hard shots at Zhang. But that got Zhang firing back as the two started exchanging views, giving fans flashbacks to their first encounter.

But then Zhang scored an early takedown. And when Jedzejczyk tried to get up, Zhang held her leg up and landed several shots to Jedzejczyk’s face before bringing her back to the ground. As Jedzejczyk got up, she went for a takedown herself but was caught backwards and eventually full mounted. Jedzejczyk landed a notable punch before the end of the round, but Zhang also briefly brought her down again.

Jedrzejczyk got off to a better start in the second round and landed her fair share of hits. But Zhang suddenly ended things by landing the vicious backfist.

The win may have given Zhang another chance to regain the strawweight gold against current champion Carla Esparza.
