Charles Leclerc llooked puzzled after witnessing another disaster class from Ferrari. Ferrari strategists were watched by millions of fans after screwing up the strategy that resulted in some victories being missed. The Hungarian Grand Prix just added one after Charles lost to Max Verstappen again. Ferrari has now been able to withdraw from the championship chase after gifting another win to rival Red Bull.

Charles Leclerc had an amazing first half of the race with a battle for the lead which he successfully won. But as the race progressed, Leclerc was put under a hard compound tire as a gamble that didn’t really pay off. With Alpine already struggling hard, Ferrari’s strategist made a foolish decision to let his driver suffer the same situation. Ultimately it took the lead away from Leclerc and he had a decent fight with Max which he lost afterwards.

Charles himself was stunned by the team’s decision and attempted to obstruct it with his own. But he had to follow the team’s orders, which led to a poor result.

“We need to talk to the team and understand the thinking behind putting [on] the hard ones because I felt very strong on the middle ones. Everything was under control and for some reason I don’t know why we have to continue [the] difficult, so I don’t know.” said Charles Leclerc.

Charles Leclerc unfolds a decision with Fertsri on the radio to obstruct his decision

Charles seemed comfortable in mediums and he knew it himself. With a few more decent laps, Leclerc would have managed to keep himself in the lead even with the old tyres.

“I said on the radio that I’m very comfortable with the mediums and that I want to ride these tires for as long as possible because the feeling is good.” explained Charles.

Charles Leclerc is now 80 points behind Max Verstappen and that could easily be counted as a Championship defeat. Ferrari are also around 100 points behind Red Bull, while Mercedes are looking forward to second place.
