the buffalo bills suffer one of the most heartbreaking losses to end their 2021 season. A few months after that loss, you GM, Brandon Beane has his sights set on this year’s draft to ensure the team remains as competitive as possible.
The Bills finished the season 11-6 and won the AFC East. Along with that, they had the No. 3 spot in the AFC. After easily beating the Patriots in the wild card round, they once again faced Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Their 2020 season ended in Kansas City at the AFC championship game, 2021 was more of the same but in the divisional round.
Their division round matchup was a legendary game, with incredible attacks including a 13-second drive from Patrick Mahomes to force the game into overtime. Had the Bills won the coin toss, this could be a different article altogether. However, they didn’t and the way both attacks were played, whoever got the ball in overtime would win the game and that’s exactly what happened.
Given the nature of the game and the way it ended, it was clear the Bills had their hands full in the offseason. Brandon Beane described what they need to do for 2022.

Brandon Beane explains how important the draft is to the Bills
Appears on “The Pat McAfee Show”Brandon Beane was quoted as saying “We have to overcome this hump. The Kansas City Chiefs are the team that beat us in the last two playoffs. We have to win our division, that’s where it starts. Then we have to knock out this draft.”
Beane further added: “We’re pretty much done with the free hand because unless the guys have some money, we’re pretty much out. We’re shopping at the bottom of the pool right now, just trying to fill a few holes. Our main focus is again on pro-days and workouts. All drafts are important but this is going to be a really important one for us where we are with the cap, we need to meet some of these low cost guys.
With an estimated $4 million of cap space remaining, the Bills certainly don’t have much room to run, but they’ve hired Von Miller for a large, $120 million, 6-year deal. So they weren’t completely inactive, but it makes sense that Brandon Beane would want to nail the draft to get some quality players that aren’t too expensive.
