the Alfa Romeo The team is a long way from what appeared to have been a terrible F1 season for them after pre-season testing laps where they didn’t have the pace or mileage. And so much has happened that both drivers finished the opening race in Bahrain with points.
Valtteri Bottas, who is partner next to GuanyuzhouShe too is impressed by the car’s performance. After finishing sixth in Bahrain, he had to park his car in Saudi Arabia due to power problems. But until then he seemed to be fighting for P6 alongside the two Alpines Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon.
Regarding that fight, as quoted by the GP fans, Valtteri Bottas said: “I think we had a good race up until then [the retirement]. I fought with Fernando and in the end he withdrew too. I think I fought for P6 so the car is okay. If anything we might have had a slight advantage over Alpine, that was the feeling so not bad.”
Valtteri Bottas’ thoughts on the track fights this season
The Saudi Arabian GP was marked by intense battles for various positions on the grid. As well as Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc battling for victory, we saw an exciting battle for P6 between Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon, later joined by Valtteri Bottas.
The Finnish driver seemed happy about that. He said, “It was nice to see teammates fighting and getting to fight, that’s the main thing, so I didn’t mind. At least at the beginning of the season it’s nice to see people going wheel to wheel.”
The Alfa Romeo has got off to a good start than anyone would have expected and Valtteri Bottas seems to have settled into the Italian team quite well. If the car does not have a failure or repeated failures, the driver can certainly take the team much higher in the championship than last year.
