mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton finished the British Grand Prix in P3 after almost winning it at one point in the race but lost it out of bad luck. He was still fighting for third place against the likes of Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez and won it against Charles too. Lewis was so competitive at Silverstone that he has now raised the bar for Mercedes, battling the wind at least until the end of the season.

Mercedes started the season with a lot of struggles thrown at them by the new regulations in 2022, they couldn’t keep up the pace to even fight for 3rd place and passed DNF for a podium. Barcelona made a big leap in upgrades for the Silver Arrows but they couldn’t last long, going down the path in Monaco and Baku. Silverstone has once again stirred up fighting spirit in the Mercedes camp and is most likely working on the right path of upgrades to get their car off the assembly line with the best position.

“Sure [it’s] enormously encouraging. For a long time we made changes and didn’t see it do what it was supposed to do or improve the car.” Lewis shared his encouragement for the Mercedes engineers.

“It was a good step in Barcelona but after that we had some difficult races. And then we just had this last race, the last two races, which were pretty strong and that really encouraged us that we’re going in the right direction, that the car really has potential.” said Lewis.

“With a little more digging and a little more hard work, hopefully we can get closer to a chance of winning a race. So I firmly believe that we can achieve a race win this year.” Lewis concluded to be optimistic.

George Russell also expressed his thoughts on Mercedes’ success at Silverstone.

George Russell failed to finish his race at Silverstone, ending his streak of finishing top 5 in the first 9 rounds of the 2022 season. He dated Zhou Guanyu after a terrible fall and luckily was back at his best after the fall.

He commented on Mercedes’ progress but also asked not to exaggerate the situation: “I don’t think we want to get too carried away,” said Russell.

“We have to keep evaluating. Silverstone was a really good step in the right direction. We took some really good lessons from there but we need to go back there this weekend and see how we progress.” Russell closed.

Mercedes were in power with the Ferraris and with the most reliable engine on the track. If they manage to get the most out of their W13, things could turn around for Red Bull and Ferraris.
