Watch the Bathurst 1000 crash: Muddy water wreaks havoc at the Bathurst 1000 on lap one

Standing water at the edge of the track sparked chaos on the first lap of the Bathurst 1000 and a corner safety car in the Supercars endurance race.

It all started in the middle of the field when contact in a group of four cars caused two cars to skid while others watched and were held up by the backers.
Supercar’s big Jamie Whincup swerving out of a puddle appeared to be the event that triggered the flow-on incidents.
Zak Best’s No. 55 Mustang had ended its day with the incident, while Jack Perkins’ No. 9 Commodore and the Kostecki brothers’ No. 56 needed garage repairs.
Jaxon Evans’ Commodore No. 4 was badly damaged at the front and is now sporting race tape to get through the day.
